Twilight series

Just read first novel of twilight series indonesian version, called twilight. I interested with the book after watching a news program on TV taking about twilight the movie. Then I went to bookstore to buy twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The book cover is black with a picture of the main players from the movie version. When I read the book I feel no intention at all, there is no something new in it, something that makes the reader can’t stop reading, something that extraordinary. I think the story was so plain and usual, or maybe I’m old enough to read teenager stuff. I spent more than a week to finish (not totally finish actually) the book, compare to harry potter and deathly hallows that I read for three days.

Maybe it is much better to see the movie instead, even though I haven’t seen the movie yet.

Home sweet home

Since I moved to the new home last week, I still can’t feel comfortable to live in there. Yeah I admitted that the home is our dream home, not so big, in peaceful environment, clean and secure, and located in the heart of the city. The problem occurs when I should move to that new home, it’s a little bit weird that I can’t sleep well at night, always wanna go back to my old home (my parent’s home), and never miss the new home. Still curious why those things happen, maybe: I used to live in very big house, with many people (brother and sister), with high speed internet connection, and the most important thing is the noise, yup there are so noisy at my parent home. However, in the new home, we live just two of us, small space, no land phone and internet connection, no surprises and noises. So very different.

I hope I can cope with all the new stuffs and feel comfortable with new home. amin.

Facebook fever

‘Do you have facebook?’ my husby ask me in one day,

and I replied shortly ‘Nope’.

He asked me then,’ why you don’t have one but everybody does?’

and I said ‘why should I have one, since I still can’t find any advantages from it?’

He continued, ‘connect to facebook is lifestyle at this moment, in which everybody has facebook account’

In fact that I teach about the community informatics and community network as one of the lecture topics at class, I feel very familiar with that social networking stuff. I also have two accounts in Friendster and myspace a few times ago, but inactive at the time. There are some advantages to have account in social bookmark like facebook, friendster, myspace or whatever, where people can connect with old friends, relatives, new friends, to exchange information about their activity. I still can’t found any big problem with the social bookmark except the possibility of personal information theft or eavesdropping, but until now I never experience such a internet crime, hopefully never ever.

so, it is not bad to have account on the social networking site, maybe I will try those thing someday..:)

Toilet tissue vs chili sauce

This is not the first time I have bad experience with public toilet, from the dirty and smelly toilet, small space toilet, bad toilet interface and instruction, or run out of toilet tissue, or spent some money for toilet tissue. I understand that public toilet that is used by many people from out of nowhere may cause those problems. I’m not such a clean freak person, but I’m still concern about the cleanness of the toilet. In Surabaya, I’m experiencing a very bad moment with public toilet. First, when I went to one of mall in Surabaya, and suddenly I wanna pee then I ran to the nearest toilet, I choose one toilet and closed the door then started to pee, after that, I’m a bit confused because I can’t found any toilet tissue that usually hanging on the wall. Damn, no tissue means yaiks…$%^%*…

a moment later, I ran to the toilet keeper, and I was so angry to that girl because she must be forget to fill in the toilet tissue, but I was surprise when she said that I need to talked to her if I need some toilet tissue before I entered the toilet and pay IDR.500 for the that. Then with a sulking face I left the toilet and still mumbling angrily.

My second experience with the toilet tissue is when I decided to pee in the mall’s toilet, but this time I’m aware about the toilet tissue matter and before entering the toilet I asked the toilet keeper about the toilet tissue, and thanks god she said that I need to pay IDR 500 to buy  a pack of toilet tissue…fiuh… another one, you should spent 500 rupiah for toilet tissue in Surabaya public toilet, what a unnecessary spent, for the thing that should be free.

Another interesting experience is about chili sauce in some fast food restaurant in Melbourne. For whom like to eat spicy you should spent 50 cent for a sachet chili sauce, this is not a big deal though but a bit irritating. So every time you dine at Mcdonald, KFC, or any other fast food restaurant you should spent more money for chili sauce, something that should be free or extra when you buy their food.

Those situation, are happened in two different location, In indonesia toilet tissue is quite expensive thing and maybe public toilet cannot afford to supply a big number of toilet tissue for public, but in contrast they just give away the chili sauce for free with unlimited volume for the fast food consumer. However, In Australia, tissue toilet is one of basic needs for the people so public toilet should provides toilet tissue without any excuse, but not for chili sauce.

Battle of the Condiments

ITP toefl

Curious about my english ability after go back to surabaya, me and some of friends in my department were trying to take the ITP toefl test. The result is announced today, and guess what, my english ability is gradually decreasing, but still above the minimal requirement. My conclusion is, going overseas to the english speaking country is not guarantee you will get better english. It depend on how you use english as part of your daily activities. Finally, there is no end to learn english.

Keane: perfect symmetry

keane

It’s a good news for anyone who loves keane, on 13th October 2008 they had released the 3rd album  perfect symmetry internationally, following on 20th October in Indonesia. They released the first single spiraling for perfect symmetry on August 2008, the song is a bit different to the other songs from previous keane’s albums. It shows that there is a change in keane’s music, the other single perfect symmetry also offers something different. Both singles are more groovy and fun, richer than before, dynamic and more keane.

The album consists of 11 songs including spiraling and the lovers are losing as their first and second single respectively. To support the album keane conducted many tours across UK, europe, and the US during the year. Many of their fans are waiting to see them live with the new songs.
